The Greater Modesto Tree Foundation –
This foundation is a volunteer network who works to continue Modesto’s rich tree tradition; working together to protect
and preserve our urban forest.
National Arbor Day Foundation –
A national organization that inspires people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees. The Foundation is the
organizer of the Tree City USA program, which has named Modesto a Tree City USA since 1980.
Ordinances pertaining to trees – The City of Modesto has developed and implements a Street Tree Plan. This plan
in cooperation with the Street Trees Ordinance, provide specific requirements that pertain to the planting, maintenance,
removal, protection and trimming of all trees in the City of Modesto.
Tree selection guide – This website, hosted by the
California Polytechnic State University, aids citizens in selecting the right tree.
