The Economic Crimes Unit is located at:

The Unit is divided into two divisions, Property Crimes and Economic Crimes.
Property Crimes Unit detectives investigate:
  • Residential and commercial burglaries
  • Cases involving possession of stolen property
  • Theft from vehicles

Economic Crimes Unit detectives investigate:

  • Credit Card Theft
  • Check Forgery
  • Identity Theft
  • Grand Theft
  • Real Estate Fraud
  • Elder Financial Abuse
  • Embezzlement

Before an investigation may begin a police report must first be filed with the Modesto Police Department.

    This may be done in the following manner:
  • In person at the Modesto Police Department, 600 10th Street.
  • Lobby hours are: Monday - Friday 7:30 A.M - 7:00 P.M.
    Saturday - Sunday 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.
To report a crime in progress or other emergencies call 9-1-1.

The MOST important thing YOU can do is CALL THE POLICE to report a CRIME or any SUSPICIOUS activity. You have to be the eyes of your neighborhood. And remember you can always remain a pair of anonymous eyes!
