Modesto Fire Department is organized into three units: Administration, Emergency Operations, and the Fire
Prevention Bureau.
The Administration Division is responsible for Fire Department administration, support services, and
planning. The division is located in the Fire Chief’s office at 600 11th street next to
Station 1.
The Emergency Operations Division is the largest and is responsible for delivering all emergency responses
and some fire prevention services. It consists of 12 Engine Companies, 3 Truck Companies and 11 Fire Stations.
Each fire station is strategically located throughout the City so that no citizen is more that three miles
from a first responder.
The Fire Prevention Bureau focuses on education, plan checking, enforcement, investigation
as well as coordinating citywide emergency preparedness efforts. The Fire Prevention Bureau is located on
the third floor of Tenth Street Place and works in coordination with the City Planning Department.
